Jack be Quick!

I got home from Denver last night and immediately went over to see my Neo. After cuddles and scritches he marked me up a bit on my bare arm. After lots of hugs I put him back and got the 2 ratlets out. Jack and DunDun.

They had not been out the day before and we anxious to play. I began to play the hand game with Jack, He was hopping around and coming to my hand. Every thing was fine until he came hopping over, hopped onto my arm where Neo had been and ATTACKED it! I did not freak but began squeaking loudly, after he sunk his teeth into me the second time I pulled him off. I have one deep inch long gash and puncture wounds with lots of scratches. He was fine as long as he did not get near my arm. Needless to say that was the end of play time last night.

Jack and Neo do not get along, this is why I have had to keep them separate. However this seemed a bit strange.

Sprocket

I gave Sprocket a bath yesterday. He is so funny, he actually likes taking a bath a jumps into the tub when you ask him to! Then he runs around like crazy.

Neo is Home

Neo came home last Tuesday. He turned 2 years old on Sunday 5/5. I didn't think he would make his second birthday. I am soo glad he did.

Silly Songs

The people on the ratlist all make up funny lyrics to songs that are about their rats. I started to do this too and made up a cute one to the tune of "Love & Marriage".

I visited Neo today and feed him some yogurt. He ate it by licking it from my fingers, I sang him silly little songs about ratties and his rattie friends, and he snuggled on my lap and bruxed. It seems as if he is getting better. Tomorrow I see Dr. Kanfer she will probably take another x-ray to see if his lungs are improving an hopefully wean him off the oxygen so he can come home.

NEO

How much is too much. How much should I spend on my pet rat NEO. He is sick again and at the vetrinarian. They did more x-rays, put him in an oxygen tent, gave him fluids etc. Less than a month ago I spent $500 on his foot that was all swollen. I don't want to loose him, but it could be a tumor and not a respritory infection, in which case there is nothing that can be done. How much more?

I love animals. I wish I could have more, my husband is adamant that we are up in numbers and need to reduce the quantity. I will just assume that we at at the limit and will get more when the number is reduced, only by death.

They are alot of work, but I don't mind. They love me and the feelings are mutual. They make me so happy. It is a feeling that is really undescribable. A joy. They are my true friends.

Kodiak is getting old, she is already 12. I worry about her, she is basicaly healthy. A little skin itchyness, and her back end is a bit stiff. It bums me out becuase she obviously limps after walks, yet she loves to go on them. Its hard to sneak Sprocket out and leave Kodders behind :(

When Dr. Dawson gets back from maternity leave I will take her in an see if she want to try Rymadyl or something. She is so hard to pill I hesitate starting the cosequin now. Maybe I should.

Stella

Friday the fledgling turtle dove wander away from the nest. She was siting on a branch near the nest, bobbing her head a bit like a big birdie! Mama dove was frantically trying to get her back to the nest and eventually did. I have not seen baby stella since Friday but mama has been sitting on the nest, daddy flying around near by. I assume that Stella is back in the nest safe and sound.
